2009-2010
Whenever you meet a senior student from any of the many schools at USC, you are impressed by their enthusiasm about our university. Each claims to have had professors who have so much practical experience in their fields that the students feel they are ahead of the game when going out into the world or entering a grad school. Their education is not just about the amazing professors or the ways they have gotten involved in their community around USC and feel that they have been able to make a true difference, but rather all of the many opportunities and activities, organizations and speakers coming to the university that they have the chance to see, meet and interact with. Transfer students coming from excellent universities, tell us that there is just no comparison with their educational opportunities at USC. Each student impresses us with their pride, their spirit and their intellect and we are “blown” away with what they hope to accomplish after they graduate. Since many of the candidates are abroad studying their last semester of their junior year, we also had 3 interviews by phone, 2 while driving to and from USC and one at a later date. What a time it was to select our final incredible recipients!

These are our scholars and each is a magnificent representative of what USC fosters within them. They give us all hope that the future will be in sound hands. Special thanks to Kim Wenrick, Renny Hauswald, and Susan Richman who joined me for the interviews on campus. We are proud to present the scholarship recipients for 2009-2010. While you are thinking about it, please send in a contribution so we can continue to provide scholarships to seniors during their senior year when most organizations are forgetting them. This is the time we pat them on the back and congratulate them on a job well done and offer assistance to make their last year at USC the best one yet. Since USC matches our contributions 2:1, we are usually able to give each student $3000, which can go a long way towards buying those expensive books.
